Immediate Care
Fox Valley Medicine, Ltd. (FVM) proudly announces options for medical care at times when your Primary Care Physician’s (PCP) office is closed.
This alternative provides an extremely less expensive option than an emergency room for treatment when the medical episode is not emergent in nature.
If your PCP’s office is closed and you feel you need medical care please contact him/her for guidance. Your physician; or one of his/her colleagues can be reached by dialing your PCP’s regular office number 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Immediate Care facilities do not take the place of your PCP for routine medical care. However, they are there for you when it is not possible to see your PCP for an urgent need. School Physicals and Immunizations are not covered at these facilities. (Please consult your benefit plan booklet for procedures regarding immediate/urgent care when you are outside the service area.)
If you are experiencing a medical emergency and feel you cannot call your PCP, such as when you think you may be having a life threatening incident such as a heart attack or a stroke, call 911 or go directly to the nearest hospital emergency room. You should contact your PCP within 24-48 hours or as soon as possible after receiving emergency treatment. Your PCP will assist in your follow-up care.
If you are having a complication related to recent specialist care, such as a recent surgery or hospitalization, you should contact the specialist/surgeon who most recently treated the condition.
